This section contains all the public deliverables of the project, from M1 until the end of the project.
Requirements Specification (Year 2)
Market Analysis (Year 2)
State of the Art (Year 2)
This document is a companion document of ASCETiC Requirements Specification (Year 2), and presents a review on the state of the art in the technology areas tackled by the ASCETiC project, taking into consideration the main focus of this second iteration: adaptability at Cloud layer level. Year 1 version focuses on providing the capability to monitor and measure energy usage across all Cloud layers. Year 2 version details the state of the art analysis in order to achieve intra-layer adaptation.
Intra-Layer Cloud Stack Adaptation
This document presents the contribution of ASCETiC's component to science: individually per component, comparing them to current solutions and describing how each component goes a step beyond the state of the art.
The key action of the project for this period is to perform self-adaptation on a per layer basis, while the key research challenge solved is the ability to take adaptive actions based upon factors such as price, energy consumption and performance within each layer and to examine the effect that it has upon the running applications.
Testbed Status Report (Year 2)
This document describes the ASCETiC testbed architecture and the integration status of all ASCETiC Toolbox components, according to Year 2 results. It also introduces the improvements made to this new version of the testbed in order to increase its scale, performance and sustainability. Implementation details and objectives are introduces in the Intra-Layer Cloud Stack Adaptation document.
Dissemination, Collaboration and Standardization (Year 2)
This document contains the activities performed regarding dissemination, collaboration and standardization during the second year of the project.
During the first year the strategy followed was to create awareness around the project, while for the second year the strategy has been to launch the communication phase towards a more commercial dissemination line, while continuing scientific dissemination. This strategy is described in the different areas of the document.
Market Analysis (Year 3)
This document is the companion Document of the ASCETiC Requiements Specification (Year 3), together with the State of the Art (Year 3). It contains an update of the taxonomy presented in the previous verson (Year 2) and the identification and explanaition of those terms that ASCETiC is currently targeting.
State of the Art (Year 3)
This document, together with Market Analysis (Year 3), complements the Requirements Specification (Year 3). This version presents a full revision of the state of the art for technical and research topics related to updates. More specifically, it updates the initial version by including novel technologies and approaches taking into account adaptability at Cloud layer level.
Requirements Specification (Year 3)
Year 1 requirements mainly focused on energy awareness, while Year 2 focused on self-adaptation. In Year 3 the focus is on explore how the self-adaptation can be performed in a more cooperative way between the different layers of a Cloud stack to avoid actions potentially with counter-effects. This cooperative approach is coined as achieving inter-layer adaptation.
Architecture Specification (Year 3)
In Year 1, research focused in energy awareness In Year 2, research has focused in intra-layer adaptation. In Year 3 the focus is on the addition of the capabilities required in order to achieve dynamic energy management involving all layers of the Cloud stack working together following an inter-layer approach.
